FAQs
I want to use Settld on behalf of the next of kin (when there is no will) – is this possible?
Yes. The Settld form will ask for consent from the next of kin. They will be asked to sign a short form, saying that they are happy for you to act on their behalf. Settld will not be able to notify any companies, without this information.
What if there is no will – can I still use Settld?
Yes. However, if there is no will, some betting providers will ask a “Next of Kin” to act on behalf of the person who died. Please check who the immediate next of kin should be here, as per the rules of Intestacy.
What happens to sole accounts after a death?
For the vast majority of betting providers, sole accounts are closed, once the remaining funds in the account are transferred to the legal next of kin. For the transfer of the final balance, the next of kin’s id and proof of bank statement is mandatory.
Do I need the betting account number to use Settld?
This information is not mandatory, but does speed up the process for betting companies if you have it to hand. We do need the deceased’s full name, the registered address on the account, registered email address and their date of birth.
